This case study presents the first infographics of the series, which demonstrate comparisons among Indigenous Peoples in Canada from to 2012-2017. As it was my first project, while at ISC, I was given creative freedom. My goal was to create a visually interesting, minimal text, respectful of the topic infographic, in order to draw people to learn more.
Programs Used - Adobe Illustrator & Procreate
I was given a brief and excel graphs for the information that would go in the infographics, and I studied different infographics and graphs. I used icons from a website and dated them according to my needs. For this project, I did not need to sketch as it had to have a flow; the imaginary was straightforward and minimal. it was more about the overall look and feel.
My main goal was to make rather complicated information into visually interesting form, to have consistency in layout and colour, and to be hable to have an idea of the topic without reading the information.
I worked on many different infographics throughout my internship, and followed the same format and style. I worked with another graphic designer who followed my guidelines for his projects to maintain consistency. Being infographics made for governments and having plenty of text, it was a challenge to include as much information as possible while keeping it organized and clean. However, the infographics were successful and shared among the different departments of Indigenous Services Canada.
